Where to Eat on the San Antonio Riverwalk: Boudro's Texas Bistro
I love visiting San Antonio. Aside from sightseeing and enjoying the Riverwalk, I love the variety of great restaurants the city offers. Before heading off for a visit, a friend recommended that I try Boudro's Texas Bistro. My hubby and I visited for an afternoon lunch.
Boudro's is conveniently located directly on the San Antonio Riverwalk. You can access the restaurant from the east side of Presa Street or from the Riverwalk. The restaurant has a large indoor seating area, but we decided to sit outside to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Riverwalk.
Boudro's is famous for their Prickly Pear Margarita. There was no way that I resist ordering one. It features tequila, Triple Sec, fresh lime juice frozen and is layered with a Prickly Cactus Pear puree. It was sweet, tasty, and refreshing.
Boudro's is also known for their fresh tableside guacamole. Since I live in Texas, I tend to go guacamole crazy. However, this was seriously some of the best guacamole I've ever had. The guacamole at Boudro's is so popular that recipe is on their website. My hubby isn't a big fan of guac, but he even admitted that it was amazing.
For entrees, I ordered the Gulf Shellfish platter. This platter features Seared bay scallop with chimichurri, blue crab seacake and grilled shrimp with beurre blanc, lobster tail baked with cognac and jack cheese, fried oysters remoulade, Louisiana crawfish pot pie served with jalapeno corn pudding on a bed of Southern braised greens.
This dish is pricey but is worth every penny. I didn't realize just how large the platter was and easily could've split it with my hubby. The scallops were cooked perfectly and I loved how flavorful each seafood item was. This is the type of dish that you have dreams about.
The wood grilled atlantic salmon is another staple on Boudro's menu. If you love salmon and want to play it safe, then this is the dish to go with. The salmon was moist, tender, and accompanied with a delicious creole mustard butter.
By the time we finished our entrees, I was stuffed. However, I knew I had an obligation to all my foodie friends to order dessert. The double chocolate brownie sounded like a winner.
The vanilla ice cream was a perfect addition to the brownie and a sweet way to end our meal. If you're planning a trip to San Antonio definitely make a reservation for Boudro's. The restaurant accepts walks in but reservations are highly recommended.
