Frisco, Texas Weekend Staycation Travel Guide
I love a great staycation! Long gone are the days where a weekend getaway only consists of packing up the car, driving for hours, or hopping on a flight. I’ve been wanting to do a staycation for the longest, and I’m so happy that I was able to do one right in Frisco, Texas. Have you ever experienced a staycation in Frisco? There are so many fun things to do, great places to eat, and wonderful places to stay. Scroll on down for my recommendations.
Where to Stay- Omni Frisco Hotel
I have nothing but amazing things to say about the Omni Frisco Hotel. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. I stayed in a king room on the 10th floor and the views were phenomenal. This hotel is conveniently located right at The Star so you can walk to lots of great restaurants and attractions. Plus, the service is fabulous!
Our room had a view of The Star’s famous football field, and we could also see the pool located on the 4th floor. The hotel even had a delicious charcuterie board waiting for me when I arrived. Thanks Omni and Visit Frisco for the warm welcome!
The room also has a comfy couch that’s perfect for curling up with a book or grabbing a nap in between sightseeing.
There are also lots of comfortable spaces to lounge or you can enjoy a drink at the beautiful bar on the first floor.
It’s also home to Neighborhood Services which is now one of my favorite restaurants! I’ll talk more about it in the where to eat section on this post.
Fun Things to Do
The list of fun things to do in Frisco is basically endless, but I’ve captured a few must-do’s for your visit. The first place on my list is the National Video Game Museum. This museum is a must for any video game system enthusiast.
This museum is cooler than cool! I was blown away by the amount of video game systems, and cool photo opps. Plus, there’s even an arcade for you to play some of your old school favorite games.
Get Your Kick on at the National Soccer Hall of Fame
Where are my soccer fans at? I was pretty stoked to visit the National Soccer Hall of Fame. This museum showcases history and notable highlights of some of your favorite U.S. Soccer teams, plus there are interactive games and some cool photo spots. Cool fact- I made history with the 1999 Women’s World Cup Soccer Team! (see below for evidence).
Take A Tour at the Star in Frisco
Did you know that The Star in Frisco offers VIP guided tours of Dallas Cowboys HQ? Although I’m not a fan of the team, I really enjoyed touring the facility and learning about the organization’s history. The tour includes notable sites including the War Room, Nike Star Walk, and Ford Center. Tours fill up quickly so be sure to purchase tickets in advance. Depending on the day you go, you might even see a player or two!
Where to Eat
One of my favorite things about Frisco is the wide range of restaurants available. Here are a few new faves that I was able to visit during my staycation:
Sushi Marquee
Sushi Marquee didn’t disappoint! Between the cool 90’s vibe and delicious sushi, this restaurant is one of my new faves. Located at The Star in Frisco, you can easily walk to it while staying at The Omni.
Neighborhood Services
Words can’t explain how much I love Neighborhood Services Frisco. During our staycation, the hubby and I visited the restaurant for breakfast, then came back for lunch the following day. It’s just that good! One of my favorite dishes is the shrimp and grits, but there’s no bad decision on the menu! Plus, the restaurant is conveniently located on the first floor of the Omni Frisco making it a super convenient and delicious choice!
Pizzeria Testa
If romantic pizza joints are your jam then give Pizzeria Testa a try. The pizzas are delicious and the ambiance is romantic and laid back. I’m a huge fan of Neapolitan pizza and my pizzas were light, fresh, airy and delicious!
Tri Tip Grill
In the mood for some quick service bbq? Then check out Tri Tip Grill. I was in the mood for something fast casual and close to the hotel, so we stopped at Tri Tip Grill for a quick bite. The bbq chicken is pretty tasty!
This wraps up my Frisco Staycation Travel Guide! I’m so happy that I was able to recharge, have some fun, and explore one of my favorite cities in North Dallas. Want a few more restaurant recommendations: Here are a couple more of my fave spots in Frisco that I didn’t visit on my staycation but are go-to’s whenever I’m in Frisco.
