Where to Stay in Scottsdale: Hotel Valley Ho

See this content in the original post

Hotel Valley Ho is not your average hotel. The hotel was built in 1956 and was later restored to it's iconic yet modern charm. The property was frequented by many Hollywood celebrities in the 1950's and proved to be a relaxing respite.

I love how this hotel stays true to its 1950's roots but also exudes modern and contemporary vibes. If you're looking for a hotel that is nostalgic yet trendy, then add this property to your must-stay list.

Accommodations

Hotel Valley Ho has a variety of room options that will comfortably accommodate any length of stay. Guests have the option in staying in one of the hotel's tower suites or can choose to stay in comfortable and contemporary room on the hip hotel side. No matter what you decide, you will definitely find a room that fits your personality. The Tower Suite was the perfect option for my stay. Tower Suites feature a full size kitchen, washer/dryer, 55'' flat screen TV,  walk-in closet, over-sized cook tops and much more.

I was stunned when I walked into my room. I was surprised by not only how beautiful the room was, but the views of Camelback Mountain were incredible. No detail has gone unnoticed when it comes to the design aesthetic of this room. I was impressed by all the little details that gave the suite so much personality while maintaining its nostalgic yet modern flair.

I highly recommend the Tower Suite if you have an extended stay planned in the Scottsdale area. My husband and I had plenty of space and could've even purchased groceries had we chose to. Tower Suites can also connect making it the perfect choice for large families or groups. If you're planning a group trip to Scottsdale or celebrating a special occasion this room is the perfect option.

Location

The location of this hotel is superb. There is no need to rent a car as the hotel is in walking distance to so many Scottsdale attractions. Scottsdale, runs a free trolley that stops within close proximity to the hotel. My husband and I rode this trolley to Old Town Scottsdale, The Shops at 5th Avenue and also to Scottsdale Fashion Square. The trolley runs very frequently so don't worry about wait times On one night we decided to walk to Scottsdale Fashion Square and it only took about 20 minutes. I couldn't of asked for a better location to stay at in the Scottsdale area. This property is also very close to the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. An Uber ride to the airport costs about $15 (including promo codes). There is also an information desk conveniently located inside the front lobby that can assist you with attractions and area information.

Dining

Hotel Valley Ho has a fantastic on-site restaurant, Zuzu. Zuzu serves American-fare and has a very popular weekend brunch. During my stay, I had brunch, breakfast, and room-service from Zuzu. The food at Zuzu was so phenomenal that it deserves its own separate blog post. Stay tuned as I'll be writing a post about my dining experiences there. However, in the meantime here's a picture of one of my meals.

Did I also mention that they had a build-your-own Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar? Score!

Room Service

On one night of our stay my husband and I decided to order room service. After calling in our order we were told that our meal would arrive in 40 minutes. 15 minutes later we heard a knock at our door. It was our food! This is seriously the fastest room service that I've ever experienced. Our meal was delivered hot, fresh, and fast. The portion size was also plentiful.

Amenities

Can you believe that it actually rained during my visit to Scottsdale? I was so bummed as I had dreams of lounging by the pool while sipping a fruity drink prior to my arrival. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get in any pool time. However, the hotel's pool areas are fabulous. The main pool area features gorgeous cabanas, and amazing food and beverage service.

During the Summer, the hotel hosts pool parties on the weekends that guests can attend. If you're looking for a more relaxed experience Hotel Valley Ho also has a quiet pool that's perfect for swimming laps. If hot tubs are your thing, there is one available in the main pool area.

The hotel also features a lovely fitness center and spa. OH Spa frequently runs specials making it easy to get in some well-needed relaxation. The fitness center also has a schedule of wellness classes available for guests in addition to great workout equipment.

Final Thoughts

I've stayed at many properties during my travels. However, there are very few that feel like home. Check out my video recap of this property below:
