The Best Seafood Restaurant in Oklahoma City: The Drake
Oklahoma City probably isn't the first city that comes to mind when you think of seafood. The Drake has completely changed my perception.
The Drake is perfect for a date night, lovely brunch, or dinner. I went to the restaurant for dinner with my husband and the ambiance is incredible. It's romantic yet casual and the seating is cozy. The restaurant has their seafood flown in from Massachusetts which is pretty stellar.
Appetizers
I visited Boston last year and am very familiar with their seafood scene. A tasty clam chowder is always a nice indicator to gauge how great a restaurant's seafood really is. I was very impressed with my bowl.
This dish is best described as a build-your-own-hush puppy sandwich. Hushpuppies come served with country ham, honey butter and tabasco sauce. After eating this, I refuse to eat another hush puppy without honey butter or country ham.
I couldn't resist ordering the tempura fried shrimp as a second appetizer. These were excellent as well. However, if I had to pick one favorite, it's Lona Faye's Four H Club. Don't leave the restaurant without ordering it.
Entrees
My husband ordered the lobster roll and it was insanely delicious. I tried a few bites and couldn't believe how good it was. I seriously felt like I had been teleported to Boston, because it tasted better than the lobster roll I had when I visited last year.
The chunks of lobster were huge, the bread was toasted perfectly and the shoestring fries were flavorful.
I ordered the grilled sea scallops that are served alongside carbonara risotto and sundried tomato pesto. O-M-G. I honestly have no words to describe how splendid this dish was.
Desserts...
By the time dessert rolled around, I was speechless and stuffed. I had just enough room left to try the creamsicle and lemon cloud pie. I know you probably think that I'm exaggerating but these desserts were EPIC. The creamsicle brought back fond memories of my childhood and was so good!
Not pictured is the delectable lemon cloud pie. It was so delicious that I ate it before taking a picture. Sorry! Please don't ask me to choose a favorite, because both desserts were awesome. If you visit the restaurant, order both and don't think twice about it. Trust me, this is a judgment free blog so I fully support the idea of ordering two desserts.
The Drake is the BEST choice for seafood in Oklahoma City. My only negative is that I wish they would open a location in Dallas! The service was flawless, (Thanks Alex!) the food and drinks are on point and the seafood is as authentic as it gets. If you're not a fan of seafood don't worry. They also have plenty land items on the menu if the ocean isn't your thing. Check out their full menu here.
***Disclosure*** I received my meal complimentary in exchange for my review. No worries, this restaurant is amazing, and I'm sure that Drake the rapper probably eats here whenever he's in town. Seriously, why wouldn't he visit a place that shares his name?
