Waco Texas Weekend Travel Guide

Hey Loves! My family and I had a blast exploring fun things to do in Waco, TX. Scroll down for suggestions on where to stay, what to do, and where to eat!

Where to Stay: Spring Hill Suites 115 S Jack Kultgen Expy, Waco, TX 76706

This new Spring Hill Suites didn’t disappoint! We opted for a queen suite and our room came with 2 queen beds, a sleeper sofa, refrigerator, microwave, and bathroom with stand-up shower. The room was the perfect size for our family. The hotel is conveniently located right of I-35 and there’s an In N’ Out Burger, Twisted Root Burger, CVS, and 7-11 located right next to the property. The hotel also has a swimming pool, gym, free continental breakfast, and is within walking distance to Magnolia.

Where to Eat:

There’s no shortage of great restaurants in Waco. Here’s a few that we enjoyed.

TruJamaica 937 Taylor St, Waco, TX 76704

My family and I LOVED this restaurant and it truly is a hidden gem. Aside from the tropical Caribbean exterior vibes, the service is amazing, the plates are plentiful, and their fresh squeezed juices are to die for.

Waffle Chic

This popular food truck is a must for a quick breakfast before a day of exploring. Waffle Chic serves up a variety of delicious specialty waffles. We loved their chicken and waffles! Follow them on Instagram to stay up-to-date on their current location.

Franklin Ave Mac House

Who doesn’t love mac and cheese? As soon as I learned about Frankin Ave Mac House I knew I had to visit. They serve a variety of delicious mac and cheeses, sandwiches, and more. Don’t leave without ordering a cup of their famous lemonade to wash it down. PS: The Notorious P.I.G, is my fave!

Union Hall

Not sure what you want to eat? Then look no further than Union Hall. Union Hall is a food hall located downtown that houses over 20 eateries. During my visit, we ordered from Wacoal Tacos & Tamales, The Blasian Asian, Huaco Eatery, and Unshakeable Milkshakes. There’s so much to try at the food hall and don’t worry, there’s plenty of free seating and parking.

Fun Things to Do in Waco

Cameron Park Zoo 1701 N 4th St, Waco, TX 76707

This zoo is INCREDIBLE! We were blown away by the amount of animals we were able to see during our visit. I highly recommend visiting early in the day especially if you’re bringing children. The zoo has concessions available however, they alloy you to bring your own beverages and snacks. One of the highlights of our visit, was getting to feed the giraffes! It costs $5 for 3 lettuce leaves and they accept cash and cards.

Dr Pepper Museum 300 S 5th St, Waco, TX 76701

Did you know that Dr Pepper originated in Waco? We enjoyed this museum so much that we returned on the second day of our trip to make our own sodas! This museum features so much history on the Dr Pepper and offers interactive activities for an additional fee. Don’t leave the museum without getting your complimentary soda included with admission.

Magnolia Market at the Silos 601 Webster Ave, Waco, TX 76706

Where are my Fixer Upper fans? Waco is famous for Magnolia at the Silos and there’s so much to explore. The complex features lots of shops, a coffeeshop, bakery, and much more. There’s also plenty of food trucks out at the lawn. Don’t forget to grab a famous watermelon juice from Luna Juice Bar while you’re there. They’re delicious!

Additional Activities

Time flies when you’re having fun. We didn’t have time to explore all the activities that Waco has to offer, but here are a few more you can check out.

Texas Sports Hall of Fame 1108 S. University Parks Dr.

This museum recognizes athletes, coaches, and administrators who have made lasting fame and honor to Texas sports.

Waco Mammoth National Monument 6220 Steinbeck Bend Dr, Waco, TX 76708

This historical site and museum features fossils of 24 Columbian mammoths and other mammals from the Pleistocene Epoch.

I hope you enjoyed all of my Waco recommendations. There’s so much to do there and my family and I look forward to visiting again soon. Have you ever visited Waco?
