The Undisputed Champ of Waffles in Oklahoma City: Waffle Champion

I'm convinced that the world would be a much better place if people ate more waffles and had love for one another.

Over the weekend, my hubby and I headed up to Oklahoma City to check out the local food scene. Before I head out on trips, I do research to see what the popular dining spots are. When I found out that Waffle Champion was known for their waffle sandwiches, I knew I had to visit. Seriously, take a second to wrap your brain around the concept of a waffle sandwich. It's mind boggling! Waffle Champion is the undisputed waffle champ of OKC. There's usually a line but the wait is well worth it.

I got my waffle party started with the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Waffle. Oh Glory!

I consider myself to be a waffle snob. I love waffles but I'm super picky about them. I hate it when I get served a waffle that isn't hot or the consistency is off. I'm not even exaggerating when I tell y'all that this was the best waffle I've eaten in history. Seriously, it was crispy but soft on the inside, flavorful, and sweet.

The waffle already came with syrup and I didn't need to add any extra. I didn't even add any butter to this waffle because it was perfect. The buttermilk fried chicken tenders perfectly complimented this waffle. They're marinated for 24 hours in buttermilk and Tabasco which gives them a little heat.

Next up was the bacon egg and cheddar waffle. This one is another star on the menu. The bacon tasted great and the scrambled eggs were fluffy. I also liked how this eggs had a little bit of cheddar cheese that didn't overpower the other ingredients.

Have you ever tried an apple pie waffle? This one was so good. I couldn't stop eating the whipped cream, plus the apples were so sweet and lovely. This is the waffle that you order after a night of fun and you want something sweet and comforting. Did I mention that Waffle Champion is open until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights? Score!

Final Thoughts

I would jump on the opportunity to visit Waffle Champion again. After you've waited in line the service is extremely fast. I received my waffle 10 minutes after sitting down. If you're heading to the restaurant with friends, I recommend that everyone order something different so you can taste and try different combinations. Plus, the portion sizes are huge!
