Anniversary Getaway: Hotel Valencia Riverwalk San Antonio, TX

Today marks my husband and I's seven year wedding anniversary! I cannot believe that the past seven years have flown by so quickly. Since we have quite a few upcoming trips planned we didn't want too travel far to celebrate our anniversary. We opted for a quick getaway in San Antonio at the Hotel Valencia Riverwalk. This hotel served as the perfect place to celebrate our special occasion

Hotel Location

Hotel Valencia's location is very convenient. The hotel is located on Houston St and is situated on the Riverwalk. This was perfect since we were able to walk wherever we wanted. We walked to many sights including the Riverwalk, Alamo, Shops at Rivercenter, and to Boudro's for dinner. We only used our car one time simply due to the fact that we had movie tickets for a theater that was within 15 minutes driving distance from the hotel. 

Parking

We opted to use the hotel's valet service which was reasonably priced in comparison to other parking options located within the hotel's vicinity. For $34 plus tax we received unlimited in and out privileges. This service not only gave us peace of mind but was very efficient. When we needed our car we simply called down to the valet stand. By the time we arrived downstairs our car was always waiting for us. The valet attendants were very friendly and attentive. 

Check In

We arrived a few minutes after the 3:00 pm check in time and were warmly greeted by the front desk staff. The check in process was quick, easy, and one of the fastest I've ever encountered. The entire process took about 5 minutes. My check in agent was not only friendly but offered me a map of the area. This was especially helpful in pin pointing attractions within the area.

Ambiance

This hotel exuded romance. I loved the romantic, dark, yet contemporary and sheek ambiance of this hotel. The Mediterranean vibes of this hotel can be felt throughout. I loved the fresh scent that permeated inside the hotel. There were many candles and fresh orchids located inside. The hotel's scent is so unique and popular that the hotel sells it in candles and room sprays. I honestly contemplated purchasing the scent. The hotel has a contemporary yet relaxing vibe. This was evident in the decor and throughout the hotels unique lounging spaces. I saw many guests frequenting the courtyard and other lounge areas within the hotel. The hotel's bar was also a great place to hang out at in the evening. The bar scene was trendy, lively, and was accompanied by a great music selection. If you're a lover of boutique hotels than you will love Hotel Valencia Riverwalk. I've stayed at a few wonderful boutique hotels in Miami. My stay at Hotel Valencia quickly reminded me of those visits. 

Accommodations

My hotel room was amazing. My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in a Riverwalk Balcony room and it did not disappoint. We had a lovely view of the Riverwalk and I loved standing out on the balcony. Our room was well appointed and spacious. I loved the full size mirror in the room and leather lounge chair. There was tons of counter space in this room. This is a great feature if you need to do work during your stay. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable and the linens were extremely soft. I also loved how the room had an I-Home which made it easy to play your favorite tunes. The bathroom was nicely sized and the shower pressure was fantastic.

Special Touches

We were greeted with some special treats after returning from some afternoon sightseeing. The hotel was aware that it was our anniversary and they wanted to make it extra special. We were welcomed back to our room with a bottle of wine and some sweet treats! This was such a nice touch! 

The hotel also provided turn down service, and had our I-Home set on classical music. This was such a personal and special touch that made our anniversary even more special. 

Additional Features

Since this was such a short stay, I didn't get to utilize all the hotel's features. However, there is a beautiful fitness center, restaurant, and courtyard available for guest usage. 

Hotel Valencia was the perfect place to celebrate my anniversary with the perfect person. I can't wait to visit this hotel during my next trip to San Antonio. If you have an upcoming stay planned in San Antonio, don't hesitate to give Hotel Valencia Riverwalk a try.
